Store Signage for Cobble Hill Acupuncture
Project Overview:
This was a very exciting project for Grace, the owner of the Cobble Hill Acupuncture, as she secured a new location for her practice. The new location is located on a highly foot trafficked area on the main street of Atlantic Boulevard in downtown Brooklyn. The new storefront presented an opportunity for Cobble Hill Acupuncture to modernize their current look and feel. With that in mind, we wanted the signage to communicate the following objectives:
Branding and Identity: Create signage that aligns seamlessly with the clinic's brand identity, conveying warmth, professionalism, and a sense of belonging.
Informational: Clearly convey the range of services offered, name of business, contact information, and be clearly visible and readable from walking by and afar.
Aesthetic Appeal: Design signage that captures the eye with a harmonious blend of contrast and modern typography, while maintaining a sense of tranquility and elegance.
Client Engagement: Encourage passersby to explore the clinic's services and inspire them to step inside for a holistic wellness experience.
About Cobble Hill Acupuncture:
Cobble Hill Acupuncture has been treating patients in the Brooklyn area with acupuncture and Chinese medicine since 2010. With a focus on natural healing and balance, Cobble Hill Acupuncture offers various and personalized treatments in a serene and nurturing environment.
Project Goals:
The primary goal of this project is to design new store front signage for her new location. We also wanted the signage to reflect the times and modernized the previous store front branding into this new space and for ready for 2023. We wanted to create a new captivating and informative store signage to reflect not only the essence of the Cobble Hill Acupuncture brand, but also serves as a welcoming beacon to the clients in the heart of the community looking for holistic health therapy.
Project Scope:
The scope of this project includes designing Storefront Window Graphics that enhance the exterior of the Cobble Hill’s Acupuncture charming location. We crafted an elegant, modern, and informative sign that welcomes clients at the entrance, prominently featuring the clinic’s name, highlight featured treatments, and contact details.
Project Challenges and Design Solutions:
One of the primary challenges of this project was that the store front glass window had a permanent address number space in the middle of the glass. We had to measure the free space above and below the number and design around it, while creating intentional harmony with it.
The lighting was also a challenge as the glass had an awning that created a dark shadow over the window. I solved it by designing the vinyl graphics to be in white to offer the most contrast for the sign to be readable. I wanted the window graphics to be large and clear enough to be read while walking by on the street and while sitting in car stopped at a red light. I also designed the vinyl graphics to be matte and to be placed on top of the glass, instead of behind the glass. This was to combat the glare and changes in light reflecting the glass throughout the day. The white color choice also helps with the glare if any.
